L.E.D.is the abbreviation for Light Emitting Diode, literally a Diode that emits light. LED's were developed in the 1950s at Bell Laboratories by engineers working with Diodes.
LED's have two main advantages; Durability and Efficiency.
Durable because they are "solid state" devices; meaning they have no moving parts. As illumination devices they are far superior in this regard when compared to incandescent lights, as there is no filament which can break and has a relatively short life span.
Efficient because they produce more light per unit of power input than most other sources.
Dorcy respects the intellectual property rights of all manufacturers and support them in our flashlights due to their consistency of quality, performance and supply and speed to market on quality improvements and new technology.
